    • It does evoke a vivid response. I drive past this boggy meadow most days, and it has been a vast smooth expanse of gleaming and blinding whiteness for months. Last week, I was seeing the dormant, sleeping earth begin to quicken and respond to the sun’s long slanting rays – not really stirring yet, but a few thin patches of color and texture here and there. Like a long slow breath taken: a promise of what was to come. An expectancy.
